On April 18, themed “Openness, Integration, and Innovation: High-Quality Development of Education from a Global Perspective,” the first Chongqing International Education Exchange Annual Conference was successfully held. The conference was jointly hosted by the Chongqing Education Association for International Exchange and the “Belt and Road” Western Education International Exchange and Cooperation Alliance. It was co-organized by the Chongqing University of Education, the Chongqing City Management College, the Chongqing No. 8 Secondary School, the High School Affiliated to Southwest University, the Bi Academy Education Group, and the Chongqing Banan Yucai Experimental Secondary School.
This annual conference featured an opening ceremony, a main forum, and four parallel sub-forums of 1)Youth International People-to-People Exchange from the Perspective of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind; 2)Deepening Diversified Cooperation to Empower Vocational Education to Go Abroad and Train International Talent Together; 3)Emerging Trends in Global Education and Innovation in International Cooperation; and 4)AI Empowering Basic Education: Teaching Innovation and Practice from an International Perspective. Additionally, there were symposiums on the “Belt and Road” Western Education International Exchange and Cooperation Alliance. Over 400 education experts and scholars from domestic and international backgrounds gathered to explore in-depth discussions on international exchanges and cooperation in education.
As an important part of the First Chongqing International Education Exchange Annual Conference, the parallel forum titled AI Empowering Basic Education: Teaching Innovation and Practice from an International Perspective aims to explore the deep integration of AI technology with basic education. From an international perspective, the forum promotes innovation in teaching models, facilitates cross-border sharing of high-quality educational resources, and contributes to improving educational equity and quality.
Ou Jian, Chairman of the Basic Education Working Committee of the Trade and Economic Multifunctional Platform for SCO Countries Education Alliance (SCO TEMP Education Alliance), Secretary of the Party Committee of High School Affiliated to Southwest University, pointed out that the forum has three major missions: to build a cross-national collaborative innovation wisdom hub, to explore pilot samples of intelligent education practices, and to build a global consensus on inclusive and equitable development. He suggested that AI should serve as a “wisdom catalyst” for education, helping to shift from “imparting knowledge” to “inspiring wisdom”. He also emphasized the need to ensure that technology is benevolent and guided by humanity, to promote educational equity rather than exacerbate disparities.
Wen Jixu, Secretary-General of the SCO TEMP Education Alliance, shared his insights on AI empowering education through the three keywords “integration,” “reshaping,” and “safeguarding.” He advocated using AI to build bridges for international education, enabling teachers to become “soul navigators” in the AI era, and using technology to empower every child’s future.
During the keynote speech session, Hang Jianping, Researcher at the Digitalization and Urban-Rural Integration Research Institute of Zhejiang University’s Yangtze River Delta Integration Development Research Center, Executive Director of the Educational Informatization Policy Research Laboratory, delivered a report from four dimensions: a deep understanding of AI education, the careful construction of campus scenarios, practical explorations in Zhejiang Province, and forward-looking thoughts on future education.
At the forum, participants held a lively discussion on international cooperation in basic education driven by AI technology. Everyone agreed that in the context of globalization, innovation in educational models and international cooperation are crucial. The exchange of views among the guests has painted a beautiful blueprint for the future of education.
